How Photoshop Works
Photo editors use different ways to make changes to images. Some combine two or more layers, while others only use one. Some layers are active and some are inactive. The simplest method of making changes is to apply a layer that just sits on top of a previous layer. This allows you to completely swap images on an active layer.
Some layers have a shape that sits over an area of an image.
When you begin to manipulate an image with Photoshop, you will often use a "layer mask." This is basically a colored layer that covers the area of the image where you do not want to apply the effect you are creating. You can apply that mask to a wide range of areas:
A layer mask can cover an area of an image.
You can also use a white layer mask.
You can create a white layer mask by clicking the Rectangle Select Tool (Q) and selecting the area of the image you wish to protect.

You can move and resize that area of the layer by using the familiar Magic Wand or Polygon Select tools (W). When you press the Alt or Opt key with the Magic Wand or Polygon Select tools, you will see the dotted squares appear to help you select the area you want to work on.

Once you have defined the area you wish to work on, you can apply the White or Black selection mask to it. This will hide that part of the image from any further editing.
*Note: Adept Photoshop users are often familiar with masking the current layer. This tutorial will work with layers as well as masking the image.
Photoshop is a bitmap editor and does not support vector graphics. However, vector graphics can be added to an image in addition to or in place of a bitmap image. The tools are quite a bit more complex, and you will need to familiarize yourself with Adobe Illustrator before you start to explore the vector graphics features of Photoshop.

Getting started with Elements
Before you dive into the editing features, you need to make sure you have the latest version. To do this you can go to Adobe's website and download the latest version.
To open an image, double-click on it to open the image in the main window or start a new image.
Click on the small arrow icon and select an image from the main window.
The image is now loaded in the main window.
You can select an image from a folder, which is useful when you have many images to work with.
You can use Photoshop shortcuts, such as Alt + Shift + Spacebar, to open a new image.
If you want to create a new image you can click on the icon in the top left to create a new image.
Some of the tutorials and articles will also use a new image. To create a new image you can click on the orange plus icon in the top left of the image window. You can then type in the name of the image and the size you want.
Once you are happy with the settings click OK.
A new image has been created.
Using the open image
To open the image you just created, click on the small arrow icon in the top left.
Click on the image and it will open in the main window.
You can now work with the image as usual.
When you are finished with the image you can close it by clicking on the red close icon in the top right.
You can also delete the image by clicking on the trash can icon in the top right.
Adding special effects
You can add special effects to your images by using the Filters and Adjustments panels.
There are a variety of effects, as seen below:
To add an effect to your image, open the effect from the right-click menu.
You can rotate the image in the filter window using the arrows in the top right of the window.

Should I create a new exception for the iOS library?
Should I create a new exception for the iOS library?
For example the AWK framework might throw NSInvalidArgumentException but on the other hand the NSString class might throw NSInternalInconsistencyException. Should I create a different exception for these in order to make that exception more specific?
A:
It is not a good idea to create a new exception for an existing one. For each exception you create, you should replace the name of the exception class to indicate the problem. For example, NSInvalidArgumentException should be renamed into NSInvalidInputException. If you have two exceptions with the same name, it is better to have two different cases within the exception class, so you can easily identify the cause:

NSInvalidInputException *type2 =...;
if (type1 == type2) {
// type1 == type2, use different approach
} else {
// type1!= type2, use common approach
}
The compiler will check if the exception name is used in some of the cases, so it will warn you if you have two exceptions with the same name.
